The elbow works great so I can push the dryer very close to the wall, my dryer vent connection was a little recessed in the back so it was difficult to get the clamp place far enough in to do anything but I got it as close as possible and pushed the dryer back to where the elbow is being wedged between the wall and the dryer, seems like the elbow is made for that purpose because it has a little fin on it that sticks out so to keep the heat off the wall. Really happy with my purchase, the price is great and it was a piece of cake to install.One quick note: make sure to check all the clamps on it to make sure they’re tight, the ones already on the elbow were not tight enough for my liking. Heavy-duty semi-rigid metal dryer duct with an elbow connection on one end, 2 4\" metal clamps included. My external duct connection is floor-based (rather than coming through the wall), so I wanted a standard connection on one end and a swivel elbow connecting to the dryer. This works perfectly, allowing the dryer to be pushed back further toward the wall without crimping the duct, as was the case with our old foil-type duct. What I means is, you fasten it to the dryer and it allows the dryer hose to pivot. It works reasonably well although disappointingly, it does not really save any space compared to just making a bend with pipe. Look at the photos posted by other reviewers, the edge of the elbow that you see there is sharp like a knife.2- Clamps are a joke. This duct must have a worm style clamp, not the included screw clamps. I have absolutely no room behind my dryer. I have found success with this one. The elbow and flexible tube allowed me to maneuver around the gas shutoff valve without the dryer sticking out in the room. It does expand to 8 feet (I expanded it fully) but it must be done before you hook it up. I found that if you put the tube between your knees and use both hands to pull a section at a time, it expands fine. Having a second person to hold it place while you secure the two clamps at each end is a plus. I did not clean my lines on what is essentially a new house for seven years and only discovered while shoveling snow off the roof that it was clogged. The bottom six feet of 4\" pipe was completely clogged with lint. So live and learn that the lint filters on dryers do not work. Also you can not have a straight vertical run out of the dryer for more than three feet without a second lint collection or eventually your pipe will fill up.Its a nasty job cleaning that lint and I never want to do it again. So I purchased the second lint filter box and placed a waste basket below it, so for every wash, the lint that gets past the filter will be removed.This product, while 8 feet is a stretch on length, has very nice connectors including a swivel female connector for the dryer output and a male couple for the other end. Cuts nice with a scissors and easy to attach to the filter box. Sturdy enough for this purpose, handle with care. I was trying to stretch it while it was secured at the dryer but it came out at the elbow side. Part of the elbow was still attached to the dryer and part was still attached to the duct with the clamp. I had hard time putting the elbow back together because it was flimsy and cheaply made. The duct is rigid but not 8 feet as described. Poorly machined, very weak joints make this thing useless.Then there are the clamps. It appeared to use nice ratchet style clamps, but instead shipped with the worst quality clamps possible. As my dryer gets pushed very close to the wall behind i needed a 90 degree elbow that would accommodate this, and this product made my life easier. I could tell it is nice quality and thickness but also easy to maneuver. Having an extra set of hands to stretch it out helps. The only negative comment I can say is that the 4in worm clamps that this come with are a bit thin so I purchased a few others at home depot which are like $1 each so no big deal.
