This is a very inexpensive scale. The plastic is a bit thin, and the tray only sits on top of it. With that said, it seems to be more than adequate as an entry level scale. I expect it to work for my needs indefinitely assuming I don't drop it. I like that this scale doesn't need batteries. I've used this scale for measuring flour, and meat so far. I take the steel pan off and use measuring cups for measurements other than meat. The scale is stable if you put whatever it is you're measuring as close to center as possible (which is how you should use any scale...) On the down side my fingers don't fit where the adjustment screw is located, so adjusting the scale is a but difficult. (I have huge fingers...)

I purchased this scale to use for weighing produce from my small farm. I have two digital scales, but wanted a manual one for the sake of portability. This scale has been the bane of my existence since the day it arrived on my doorstep, and I look forward to the day when I can smash it into a pile of thin plastic shards. The base is made entirely of plastic, so anything bigger than a couple of tomatoes will send the whole thing crashing down. If that was the only flaw, I could deal with it, but this scale does not provide any semblance of reliability or accuracy in its only function: TO WEIGH STUFF. Sometimes I get as much as a 2 lb difference when weighing and reweighing the same item more than once. Worst scale ever.

I read some of the reviews and was a bit nervous to order this, but am glad I did. First thing what you read in the add is what it is, when I got it it took a bit to get the scale adjusted but once I did it has worked very well so far. The most I have put onto it has been 5 lbs and it held together very well!. The tray is stainless and cleans very easy

Run! Don’t walk. Don’t buy this piece of crap. Turning to get to 0 is a joke. Then broke after 5 days of having it and using it only 3 times.

What do you expect for 25 bucks? It works but not super accurate and that is ok. I only use it for processing meat and it is accurate enough for that. Requires frequent zeroing and is accurate to about half a pound once you go above 5-8lbs.

We all rely to some degree on product reviews by purchasers who share their opinion on the product performance. But when some purchasers are naive and don't really know how to use a product and fail to read the directions, posting a negative review that give false and misleading information about the product, the rest of us are left thinking the product is deficient in some way.I have used Taylor scales for over 40 years and find them to be reliable instruments. I purchased this Taylor Kitchen Scale (22-Pound/10-Kilogram) to use in weighing dressed chicken after they've been butchered and processed. I've now ordered a second for use with vegetables and other items inside my home. Out of the box, I zeroed out the scale, then placed the stainless steel tray and brought it to tare - zero. I then proceeded to weigh a two pound pkgs of butter and three one pound pkg of butter. Each time the scale read perfectly, 2# and 3#. As for those who seem to think the scale is flimsy...they fail to understand the weighing mechanism is spring loaded and is designed to recoil until the spring tension settles at which point you take a weight reading. Some people have even complained the tray falls off. Well the tray has an imprint of the scale platform that actually makes it quite steady. You cannot "plop" some thing into the tray while on the scale platform and expect nothing would happen. Depending on the force of the "Plopped" item you could actually cause enough recoil in the spring to bounce the item off. These are all user issues and not quality issues with the scale. I find it to be precise enough for a non-trade scale, made by Taylor I would expect it to last for years to come but I'll need to be careful with how I handle it. It's a great scale, I like the large print dial and also the KG multiple reading. See my pics below...Don't hesitate to buy.

Pictures can be deceiving when it comes to size. I bought and returned the scale. It was not accurate and would not return to 0 when you take off what ever your trying to weigh. There is a adjustment to calibrate the scale to the zero starting point but it wouldn't return to where you set it at. It is small and very lite weight and printed on the dial it says not to use it for commercial use. Its more like a product you might find in the dollar stores on sale for 2.99 Yeah its cheap and made that way. I wanted to use it for weighting produce. No problem, Amazon carry's the hanging basket types like you see at produce markets for around 30 dollars and thats probably what I'll go with. Amazon is pretty nice about picking up defective products that ship out. Taylor Precision Products? Not this one.

The measurement changes depending on where your object is on the scale. I use it to weigh out clay for pottery making and its not particularly sturdy, even though its supposed to hold 20+ pounds. It works functionally, but you need to put whatever you're measuring dead center for any accuracy, and the top pan falls off so easily that just a little movement can screw up the whole measurement. You definitely get what you pay for. If you need precision, I'd suggest a digital scale.

I love the look of this scale and it's easy to use. However, there is one thing that makes it a little troublesome. The top platform you place the items on doesn't seem to snap onto the scale in anyway. So to much on either side could make it tip over. Otherwise it's a lovely scale.

I use this everyday, although i regret buying it i still use it because i don't want to waste money, the needle if floppy no matter how you adjust it, if accuracy is not important then you might find this equipment acceptable, if i needed to weigh anything accurate i would have to use another scale, with this in mind i would not buy this again !

UPS delivered this scale during a nasty sleet and snow storm and it was in perfect condition. The first thing I measured was peanut butter which is difficult to measure accurately. I placed some waxed paper in the tray and it was accurate and no mess. I weighed other things without any problem. I like to bake bread without a machine and I will be using this scale to make loaves of uniform weight. The adjustment was easy for me to figure out. I know I will find other ways to use this scale to make my life easier. This is also easier to use than electronic scales

I am a foster Mom for cats and kittens from my local animal shelter and I use this to keep track of the kittens weight It's easy to use and big enough to put a small kitten on easily. I would recommend it for any small animal.

we used the scale often. it gets out of balance frequently, and hard to get it to 0. the dial is located under the tray. it is hard to reach. with time it lost sensitivity as well. for around the same amount we bought a much more sturdy and reliable scale. too late to return for us.
